Nicolas will be the lead-off Platform Artist at the 16th Annual Central Coast Hair & Beauty  Expo at the Cocoanut Grove in Santa Cruz on October 3rd, 2010.  This is our 16th year with this great little show!

The Central Coast Expo provides a full day of the best in platform artistry & education in an intimate setting.  Also at the Expo, the CCA presents the California Student Team Competition, where enthusiastic beauty school teams present their most avante garde looks for judging.

If you’ve been on the fence about enrolling in one of our hugely popular Hands-On Master Classes,  now is the time!

Five intrepid students, including two “Master Class Second Timers”, attended the May 3rd session.  After an overview of the foundations of the Nicolas System, and discussion of hair growth patterns, everyone got out their personal dollie head and started on their first cut of the day.

The essential blow drying and finishing skills were emphasized for each haircut chosen.

In the afternoon, everyone chose a second cut to master.  Scissors flashed and hair flew as the students created sassy disconnected bobs, graduated bobs, and other shorter looks.  The day ended with fabulous finished looks  and lots of great ideas to take back to their salons and their clients.

Five intrepid stylists joined Nicolas for a day of education in the systems of precision haircutting on Monday, March 22nd. 

The day began with a session of theory, underlining the key points of the Nicolas System.

Next, each student chose a precision cut to master.  Cutting commenced, with feedback and help from Nicolas along the way.

Attention was paid to proper blow drying and finishing techniques, as they can make or break the look.

After lunch, the stylists returned to work on another precision cut.

Educators need education too!

Nicolas recently attended the 3-day Vidal Sassoon Master Cutting Course at the Santa Monica Academy, showcasing the new Sassoon Spring/Summer Collection “Dada Dolls”.  This intensive course was led by Sassoon International Creative Director Mark Hayes.  Nicolas joined 15 other stylists from all over the world, achieving new heights in platform-worthy precision cuts and avante garde color.

This master seminar has left Nicolas totally energized and ready to integrate the new techniques he learned into his own work.  Plus, it was a blast to be totally immersed in advanced haircutting techniques with some of the best stylists in the world!
